Synopsis[]

Jackie and Uncle travel to Quebec in search of the drum once used to banish the Mountain Demon. However, the Demon Chi is instead discovered inside a pair of chopsticks, believed to have been carved from the drum's corresponding drumsticks. Before the two can determine the correct pair of chopsticks, however, the chi is inadvertently absorbed by Tohru when he mistakes the chopsticks for a normal pair, leaving him with an unnatural appetite. Meanwhile, Drago decides to take on a new approach to dealing with the Chans, whilst Uncle develops some new tricks of his own.

Notable Quotes[]

Jackie: Canada. The Mountain Demon Chi is in Quebec.
Jade: Cool! I can practice my French — croissant, crêpe, crème brûlée, baguette.
Tohru: Mmmm. Baguette.
Jade: No baguette, Tohru! Think lean and mean protein. No bread, no pasta, no rice, no cookies, no cake.
Jackie: No Quebec, and no argument. You have a big math test tomorrow. Remember? You stay here with Tohru.
Jade: Aww!
Tohru: Ugh!

Curator: Bonjour. Comment allez-vous aujourd’hui?
Jackie: (looks surprised before turning to Uncle, realizing that he doesn’t understand some of the French language) Maybe we should have brought Jade.

Trivia[]

  • The episode title is a pun on the popular phrase "wait and see".
  • In this episode, besides hearing Jackie out when he tells her to stay behind, Jade actually does stay behind — twice.
  • This is the only episode in the show that explicitly states Canada as being a destination or location within the storyline, though the Season 2 episode "Danger in the Deep Freeze" likely took place in Canada, probably in the Northwest Territories or Nunavut.
