The Protection Spell Guardians are an ancient pair of magical beings tasked with guarding each half of the Arcanum of Chi.
History[]
After creating the legendary Arcanum of Chi, Ancient Chi Master Madjo proceeded to separate the relic into two halves, hiding them both away in two separate locations; the first within an underwater cave representing yin chi and the second at the top of a dormant volcano representing yang chi. To further safeguard the Arcanum, Madjo cast a protection spell over each half of the orb, effectively creating two guardians to watch over their respective half of the Arcanum.

The Yin Guardian
Seeking to obtain both halves of the Arcanum, Jackie, Jade, Uncle and Tohru journeyed to a remote tropical island where they uncovered the first half of the orb from within an underwater cave. Whilst attempting to secure it, however, the Chans inadvertently awakened the protection spell guardian (a magical sea monster) assigned to watch over this half of the Arcanum. By working together, Jackie and Jade were able to outsmart the creature and escape with the orb half.
When the orb half was later stolen by a mysterious time-travelling Chi Wizard named Iso, Jade pursued the thief through a time portal into the future where she encountered her future self along with future versions of Jackie, Uncle, Tohru and (to Jade's surprise) her new friend Jimmy.

The Yang Guardian
After recovering the stolen half of the orb from Iso's lair, Jimmy informed Jade that he had discovered a spell to locate the remaining half of the Arcanum, determining that it was situated at the top of a dormant volcano named Eagle's Peak a short distance away from the city. After a long and treacherous climb, Jade and her future self eventually uncovered the second half of the Arcanum. Upon immediately obtaining it, however, the pair were confronted by the second protection spell guardian (a magical griffin) assigned to watch over the remaining half of the Arcanum. As with the first guardian, both Jades worked together to outsmart the creature, using their surroundings to evade it and escape with the orb half.
