Jackie Chan Adventures: Legend of the Dark Hand is a single player beat-'em-up developed by Torus Games for the Game Boy Advance (GBA), based on the Jackie Chan Adventures animated TV series. The game was published by Activision and released in November 2001 in North America and Europe.
Synopsis[]
The game incorporates characters and the broad story arc from the show, but it's centred around a unique subplot.
Jackie Chan is minding his uncle's shop when Dark Hand enforcer Hak Foo breaks in and steals one of eight ancient scrolls that grant kung fu powers. Urged on by Jade and Uncle, he goes across the world to retrieve all eight scrolls before the Dark Hand can use their power for evil.

Gameplay[]
The game is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up. In each level, Jackie must defeat a horde of minions before facing off against a level boss. Depending on the level, these minions may be the goons of Enforcers like Hak Foo and Ratso, and/or the Shadowkhan (four tribes appear in the game, each with their own abilities and weapons).
Except in the Section 13 Training Area, scrolls appear right before each boss fight. Each one grants Jackie a new attack (i.e. new punch and kick combos), which he can use immediately afterwards.
# | Level | Boss | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
1 | San Francisco |
Hak Foo |
Ratso, Chow, and Finn appear separately as sub-bosses in the middle of the level.
The Yin scroll gives Jackie a three-punch combo. |
2 | Section 13 Training Area | None | |
3 | Mayan Temple | Ratso, Chow, Finn |
The first level where the Shadowkhan make an appearance. Also the first level where Captain Black appears at the beginning of each level to introduce it to the player.
|
4 | Bermuda | Xiao Fung |
The first stage where Uncle gives a hint on how to defeat the level boss.
|
5 | Mt. Fuji | Valmont | With the Xu scroll, Jackie can now perform a handspring kick. |
6 | Forbidden City | Tso Lan |
The blue Shadowkhan, who throw shurikens, are introduced in this stage. The Fu scroll gives Jackie a helicopter kick attack, which is good, although slow, for dealing with enemies surrounding him. |
7 | Great Wall of China | Hak Foo | With the Shen scroll, Jackie can jump backwards off the wall to launch an aerial attack against opponents. |
8 | Victoria Harbour | Bai Tsa | The Zi scroll gives Jackie a longer and higher jumping and jumping kick range. |
9 | Siberia | None | The Chou scroll gives Jackie a charge attack. |
10 | Alcatraz | Shendu |
