Dai Gui is a Demon Sorcerer - specifically the Earth Demon - and one of Shendu's seven siblings who were trapped in the Netherworld, making him one of the Demon Portals story arc antagonists of Season 2.

Dai Gui is brutish, and seemingly the least intelligent of the Demon Sorcerer siblings, although he does display a crude ingenuity in combat (hiding and tripping a Rabbit Talisman-empowered Tohru, and throwing large rocks at Jackie Chan). He is seemingly either unaware of his own stupidity or likes to assert his authority to make up for it; often speaking to and amongst his siblings as if he's their intellectual equals, and (in an ironically blatant display of his low intelligence) ordering Shendu and the Enforcers to start digging his new kingdom for him by themselves, until Shendu made up an excuse to get out of it.
  +
  +
Despite enjoying bossing others (namely Shendu) around, Dai Gui is inadverse to doing "dirty work" himself using his geokinetic powers. Like the rest of his siblings, Dai Gui is generally apathetic about the value of human life, indifferently causing destruction by burrowing underground after he was freed. In a fight, he can be extremely ferocious - attempting to peel the Armor of the Eight Immortals off Jackie Chan's body while he was alive, and attempting to crush him with a rock when he was seemingly defenceless while comparing him to a worm; Dai Gui seemed to enjoy talking and conjuring macabre imagery while he acted.
  +
  +
Like most of his siblings, Dai Gui loathed Shendu for leaving them trapped in the Netherworld for centuries, and clearly wished to see Shendu be tortured in the Netherworld if he couldn't boss him around on Earth. But beyond that, Dai Gui expressed irritable exasperation concerning the existence of Shendu's Talismans, when they directly aided the Chan Clan against him.

Dai Gui claims to hate "pretty" things, specifically flowers - observing flowers that caught his eye and expressing his disgust was the first thing he did upon being freed from the Netherworld. The sight of a flower held by Jade Chan (albeit one which had been used in a failed chi-spell meant for him) was enough to make Dai Gui turn his attention to attacking her and Tohru as well as Jackie Chan, whereas up until then he'd ignored them in favour of fighting Jackie.

Background
The Demon Sorcerer of Earth, Dai Gui was banished by the Immortal Lan Caihe. However, upon his return, he was unable to be banished until Uncle awoke from a magic-induced slumber, revealing the final ingredient necessary to banish him. He was one of the final four to challenge the J-Team, and battled Tohru. He was banished, but his Demon Chi surfaced inside of a flower. Jackie later absorbed the Chi in order to do battle with a Moon-powered Drago. The chi was removed from Jackie just after Uncle places the Moon Chi in the Containment Unit. It was later absorbed by Jade's friend Larry when it left the containment unit temporarily and later absorbed by Drago along with the seven other demon chi. Traces of it was later placed into StrikeMaster Ice when Drago sent him to destroy Section 13.

Alongside his seven siblings, Dai Gui terrorised the world during ancient times (described by Tohru in Relics of Demon Past as "thousands of years ago"), until one-by-one he and his brethren were defeated and banished to the Netherworld by the Eight Immortals, where all except Shendu (who apparently escaped and left the other Demon Sorcerers behind) remained trapped. Dai Gui's Demon Portal was located in a rural area of Pamplona, Spain; at the site of a rotting and overgrown abandoned house by the present day.

"Dai Gui does not like pretty!"
— Dai Gui expressing his disgust for flowers

Dai Gui is a Demon Sorcerer - specifically the Earth Demon - and one of Shendu's seven siblings who were trapped in the Netherworld, making him one of the Demon Portals story arc antagonists of Season 2.

Appearance

Dai Gui's appearance is a mix between a minotaur and a stone lion.

Personality

History

Background

Alongside his seven siblings, Dai Gui terrorised the world during ancient times (described by Tohru in Relics of Demon Past as "thousands of years ago"), until one-by-one he and his brethren were defeated and banished to the Netherworld by the Eight Immortals, where all except Shendu (who apparently escaped and left the other Demon Sorcerers behind) remained trapped. Dai Gui's Demon Portal was located in a rural area of Pamplona, Spain; at the site of a rotting and overgrown abandoned house by the present day.

Season 2

Dai Gui was the fifth Demon Sorcerer to be unleashed. Immediately upon release, he desired to submerge his new kingdom into the depths of the earth, a task he took upon himself as Shendu then moved onto freeing his other brothers and sisters. Dai Gui then came into contact with Jackie Chan who grasped onto his horns as he was burrowing. Having been informed about Jackie's meddling from his siblings, Dai Gui attempted to destroy him, but found it difficult when Chan equipped the armor of the immortals. Dai Gui was unable to be banished until Uncle awoke from a magic-induced slumber, revealing the final ingredient necessary to banish him. Jade initially tried to banish him when Uncle was asleep, but to no avail as she confused "hair of ewe" with "hair of you".

He was one of the final four to challenge the J-Team, and battled Tohru. He was banished, but his Chi surfaced inside of a flower.

Season 5

Jackie absorbed the Chi in order to do battle with a Moon-powered Drago. His was removed from Jackie just after Uncle places the Moon Chi in the Containment Unit.

It was later absorbed by Larry when it left the containment unit due to an earthquake and was later absorbed by Drago along with the seven other demon chi, sprouting some horns. Traces of it was later placed into StrikeMaster Ice when Drago sent him to destroy Section 13.

Powers and Abilities

Dai Gui's elemental power is control over the earth. This allows him to attack enemies by manipulating the soil, dirt, rock, minerals and other earth materials around him by merely gesturing his arms. This can include geokinetically lifting boulders, creating cracks in the ground and closing them up, and forming large columns of rocks out from the ground. He can also use this power to create underground tunnels that he can burrow through to quickly reach destinations out of harm's way.

Dai Gui also possesses great physical strength due to his massive build. When Jackie and Larry absorbed his chi, they grew in both statue and muscle mass.
