The Arcanum of Chi is an ancient magical orb that can increase the power of any chi spell tenfold.
History[]
Ancient times[]
Origin[]
According to Uncle, the Arcanum of Chi was originally created by the ancient Chi Master Madjo. To prevent it from falling into the wrong hands, Madjo resolved to split the orb into two halves. Each half was hidden in a seperate location; the first within an underwater cave representing Yin Chi and the second at the top of a dormant volcano repesenting Yang Chi. As a further precaution, Madjo cast a protection spell over both halves of the orb, summoning two magical guardians (the Yin Chi Guardian and the Yang Chi Guardian) to watch over each.
Modern times[]
Reclaiming both halves of the Arcanum[]
Seeking to obtain both halves of the Arcanum, Jackie, Jade, Uncle and Tohru journeyed to a remote tropical island where they uncovered the first half of the orb from within an underwater cave. Whilst attempting to secure it, however, the Chans inadvertently awakened the Yin Chi Guardian, a magical sea monster. By working together, Jackie and Jade were able to outsmart the creature and entrap it, allowing them to escape with the Yin Chi half of the Arcanum.
With the first half secured, Jackie and the others returned to San Francisco, where Uncle and Tohru unsuccessfully attempted to conduct a locator spell to reveal the whereabouts of the second half. Upon arriving back from school, Jade introduced her family to her new friend Jimmy. Jimmy's quick thinking enabled him to save the orb by catching it after being dropped by Tohru. After being moved from Uncle's shop to Section 13 for safe keeping, the Arcanum was stolen by a mysterious intruder. Witnessing the event unfold, Jade observed that the thief had arrived from the future through a time portal. Before it could close, Jade pursued the thief back through the portal into the future where she encountered her future self at Section 13. Future Jade explained that the time-traveler was a Dark Chi Wizard named Iso, revealing him to be number one on Section 13's most wanted list. Along with her future self, Jade was greeted by future versions of Jackie, Uncle, Tohru and, to her surprise, Jimmy. Jade learned that Tohru had become a full Chi Wizard and that Jimmy was now his Chi Apprentice.
When Future Jade inferred that Iso's lair was located somewhere within a local shopping mall, her present self proceeded to investigate against her wishes. After Future Jade caught up with her present self in the mall, the pair inadvertently stumbled upon Iso's lair where they found the stolen half of the Arcanum. Upon being confronted by Iso, both Jades fled the lair with the orb half, prompting Iso to pursue them through the mall, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. After evading Iso, the Jades regrouped with the others back at Section 13.
With the stolen half of the Arcanum reclaimed, Jimmy conducted a spell to locate the remaining half, determining that it was situated at the top of a dormant volcano named Eagle's Peak located just outside of the city. Following a long and treacherous climb to the top, Jade and her future self eventally recovered the second half of the Arcanum where they were confronted by the Yang Chi Guardian, a magical griffin. Just like before with its Yin Chi counterpart, the Jades worked together to outsmart the creature, using their mountainous surroundings to entrap it, allowing them to escape with the Yang Chi half of the Arcanum before returning back to Section 13.
After regrouping with the others at Section 13, Jimmy proceeded to unite both halves of the Arcanum together before finally revealing himself as the true identity of Iso. With the now-complete Arcanum of Chi in his possession, Iso was able to cast far more powerful chi spells, including one that could summon a seemingly endless army of demonic minions to eliminate the Chans and destroy Section 13. Amidst the ensuing battle, Future Uncle inferred that in order to defeat Iso, they must first discover his weakness, prompting them to summon a time portal to the present so that they could determine his weakness from his present self. Back in the present, Jimmy was still at Uncle's shop with Tohru. Without time to explain, Jade brought him with her to the future. Upon witnessing the actions of his future self, Jimmy was horrified at the type of person he was seemingly destined to become. When Jade asked Jimmy what scared him the most, he reluctantly confessed that he was afraid of heights, allowing Jade to overpower Iso by scooping him high into the air with the Rooster Talisman. Frightened, Iso dropped the Arcanum, causing his minions to vanish. Before the orb could hit the ground, Jimmy leapt over and caught it, mirroring the time he saved the Arcanum back in the present. With Iso finally apprehended, Future Jackie entrusted the Arcanum to Jade, suggesting that it would be safer for her to destroy it back in the present.
Appearance[]
Described as a "big blue marble" by Jade, the Arcanum of Chi is spherical in shape, resembling a large blue-colored orb. Each half of the orb reveals a geode-like cross-section inside, indicating that the Arcanum is crystalline in nature.
Powers and abilities[]
The Arcanum of Chi is capable of increasing the power of any chi spell tenfold, but only when both halves of the orb are united together.
