"One half of the Arcanum of Chi created by ancient wizard Madjo. When reunited with its other half, it becomes a powerful relic, increasing any chi spell tenfold." |
The Arcanum of Chi is an ancient magical orb capable of increasing the power of any chi spell tenfold.
History[]
Origin[]
According to Uncle, the Arcanum of Chi was originally created by an ancient Chi Wizard named Madjo. To prevent it from falling into the wrong hands, Madjo separated the orb into two halves, hiding them both away in two separate locations; the first within an underwater cave representing yin chi and the second at the top of a dormant volcano representing yang chi. To further safeguard the Arcanum, Madjo cast a protection spell over each half of the orb.
Plot[]
Seeking to obtain both halves of the Arcanum, Jackie, Jade, Uncle and Tohru journeyed to a remote tropical island where they uncovered the first half of the orb from within an underwater cave. Whilst attempting to secure it, however, the Chans inadvertently awakened the protection spell guardian (a magical sea monster) assigned to watch over the yin half of the Arcanum. By working together, Jackie and Jade were able to outsmart the creature and escape with the orb half.
With the first half secured, Jackie and the others returned to San Francisco, where Uncle and Tohru unsuccessfully attempted to conduct a locator spell to reveal the whereabouts of the second half. Upon arriving back from school, Jade introduced her family to her new friend Jimmy. Jimmy's quick thinking enabled him to save the orb half after Tohru accidentally dropped it when the location spell ingredient (essence of ginseng) caused him to sneeze. After being moved from Uncle's shop to Section 13 for safe keeping, the Arcanum was stolen by a mysterious individual named Iso, a Dark Chi Wizard who had arrived from the future through a time portal. Witnessing the event unfold, Jade pursued the thief through the portal into the future where she encountered her future self along with future versions of Jackie, Uncle, Tohru and, to her surprise, Jimmy. Jade learned that Jimmy had since become Tohru's apprentice. Unbeknownst to everyone else, Future Jimmy was in fact the true identity of Iso, the very figure Jade had followed into the future to begin with.
When Future Jade inferred that Iso's lair was located somewhere within a local shopping mall, her present self proceeded to investigate against her wishes. After Future Jade caught up with her present self in the mall, the pair inadvertently stumbled upon Iso's lair and the stolen half of the Arcanum. Upon being confronted by Iso, both Jades fled the lair with the orb half, prompting Iso to pursue them through the mall, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. After escaping Iso, the Jades regrouped with the others back at Section 13. With the stolen half of the Arcanum reclaimed, the Chans prepared to send Jade back to her own timeline. Before she could be returned to the present, however, Jade's future self was fired from her post at Section 13 by Captain Black, holding her responsible for the wake of destruction left at the mall.
Meanwhile, Future Jimmy informed Present Jade that he had discovered a spell to locate the remaining half of the Arcanum, determining that it was situated at the top of a dormant volcano named Eagle's Peak a short distance away from the city. Presented with an opportunity to win back her job, Jade invited her future self to accompany her in retrieving it. After a long and treacherous climb, the two Jades eventually uncovered the second half of the Arcanum. Upon immediately obtaining it, however, the pair were confronted by the second protection spell guardian (a magical griffin) assigned to watch over the yang half of the Arcanum. As with the first guardian, both Jades worked together to outsmart the creature, using their surroundings to evade it and escape with the orb half.
When the two Jades returned with the second half of the Arcanum, Jimmy proceeded to unite both halves together before finally revealing himself as the true identity of Iso. With his power enhanced tenfold by the now-complete Arcanum of Chi, Iso proceeded to summon an army of demonic henchmen to eliminate the Chans and destroy Section 13. Amidst the ensuing battle, Future Uncle inferred that in order to defeat Iso, they must first discover his weakness, prompting them to summon a time portal to the present so they could determine Iso's weakness from his present self, who was still at Uncle's shop with Tohru. Upon returning with Jade to the future, Jimmy confessed that he was afraid of heights, allowing Jade to overpower Iso by scooping him high into the air with the Rooster Talisman. Frightened, Iso dropped the Arcanum, causing his minions to vanish. Before the Arcanum could hit the ground, Jimmy leapt over and caught it, mirroring the time he saved the Arcanum back in the present. With Iso finally apprehended, Future Jackie entrusted the Arcanum to Jade, suggesting that it would be safer for her to destroy it back in the present.
Appearance[]
Described as a "big blue marble" by Jade, the Arcanum of Chi is spherical in shape, resembling a large blue-colored orb. Each half of the orb reveals a geode-like cross-section inside, indicating that the Arcanum is crystalline in nature.
Powers and Abilities[]
The Arcanum of Chi is capable of increasing the power of any chi spell tenfold, but only when both halves of the orb are united together.
